Text Box Disappears

I am using Powerpoint 2000. I have a text box on a slide
and I want the text to "dissolve" in. To accomplish this,
I highlight the box and pick custom animation, then under
entry animation I pick dissolve. When I preview it in
that screen, it looks fine but when leave there and view
my slide show, the entire text box is gone. I have tried
this on various slides picking different entry text
animation types, but I always get the same result. The
text boxes completely disappear during the slide show.
Any ideas?

Is it set to animate on mouse click? Are you clicking the mouse to make it
enter? Entrance animations always hide the object until the animation is
run to cause it to enter.
