Is there a way in powerpoint to add an additional text box in the master
slide layout so that you don't contianlly have to add a new text box a each
new slide you create

go to master slide, choose a text box hold ctrl, drag the text box,
you will get a copy, then place it and resize it as you want, it will
appear on each new slide you create.

You can't add placeholders to slide masters in PPT 2003 and earlier. You can
in 2007.

As Echo mentions, you can't add new placeholders unless you have 2007, but if
you want the same text to appear on each slide, adding the text to the master
will get you there.

Another approach is our ShapeStyles add-in; once you create a "style" from the
text box you want, a single click will create a new identically formatted text
box on any slide. The free demo lets you create up to five styles, so if
that's all you need, you're good to go, no charge, on the house, enjoy ...
