Termsrv not listening on 3389

Hello,

I am having trouble getting a windows 2000 server to respond on port 3389.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the following: TCPIP, Terminal services,
RDP-TCP connector in Terminal Service configuration.

Despite all this there is no reponse on port 3389.

I can FTP into this server without a problem. There is no firewall
operating on this server.

my mstsc.exe client can connect to other servers without a problem.

NO events are generated in system or application logs when I try to connect.

Also running regmon and filemon on this server shows no activity when I try
to connect.

a netstat -a shows that system is not listening on 3389

The terminal services service is running

No events in the system log indicate any problems.

Also I can not create any VPN connections out of the machine. Connections
have red cross through them and it says device unavailable. Seems PPTP
device can not be created. not sure if this is relevant but thought I would
mention it anyway.

Hope you can give me some things to try or some other things to reinstall
that I have not already tried above.

Thanks very much.
