Terminal Clients Error Message

T

Tony Sadegh

I recently installed remote Desktop on one of our W2K
server. When I try to connect to our terminal server
machine, I get the message:
The client could not establish a connection to the remote
computer.
The most likely causes for this error are:
1)Remote connections might not be enabled at the remote
computer.
2)The maximum number of connections was exceeded at the
remote Computer.
3)A network error occured while establishing the
connection.

Everyone in the company can connect to the terminal
server with no problems and I can ping the terminal
server from the W2K server that I am having problems
with. Any suggestions?

Are there any eventlog messages on the Terminal Server when this happens?

If TS is installed as Remote Administration there can only be two sessions
active. Check the TS server locally and see if there's an abandoned
session. If so disconnect it and try again. You might want to review
your session timeout disconnection settings.
