Tenative Appointments - When do they appear?

I have a user who 'claims' that appointments that were sent to her always
appeared in her calendar as tentative reguardless of whether or not she
actually read the meeting invite. It is my understanding that for
appointments to show up, one must actually read/view the meeting request.
Is this correct? If so, is there any way to have the appointments
automatically show up for someone if they are unable to read/view the new
incomming meeting requests?

Incorrect. As long as they're in your Inbox, they'll be on the calendar as
tentative.
