How can I create or customize a template for use as a background in my
presentations?

My present project is "How to start a business" and would like to create a
background scene of a building under construction with all the various
aspects thereof. Such as a small clip of blueprints, ruler/tape measure and
other various tools along with several people wearing hardhats in various
places around the construction site. Is this possible?

Best thing to do is to go to View - Master - Slide master then Format -
Background or right click and choose background. Click on the listarrow and
choose fill effects, picture tab, browse and select your background scene
and insert that. That will not allow you to make the picture look like a
watermark though. You could just insert the picture on the master, and on
the picture toolbar choose the color button (second from the left) and
choose wash. That way the picture will not interfere too much with the
viewing of the slides.
