I would like to make a word document that I can use as a template. I want to
be able to open it then type in the fields with out the next lines moving. It
would be like typing on a hardcopy.

Great idea. You should ask about it in a newsgroup for Word. This one is for
Windows XP. Try here:
news://microsoft.public.word.newusers
 
Open MS Word | Press F1 | Click the Index tab | Type: template in the
keyword box
