Can i simply drop an existing document into a different template? If not,
how do i chnage templates with an existing document without havin gto
reformat and cut and paste every paragraph?
 
Your first impulse was the correct one. Create a new document based on the
desired template and either copy/paste the text into it or use Insert |
File. Note that it's safest to press Enter a couple of times in the empty
new document before using Insert | File. Otherwise the inserted file has a
tendency to bring its formatting with it.
