Template comes through as code instead of template

I have Front Page 2000. I'm a new user and wanted Front Page to be able to
use the pre-designed template in the program to create a webpage. I've
followed all of the tutorials and am certain I am doing everything correctly.
However, when I select a one of the pre-designed templates, it shows up as
code--not the template format. I have searched this forum and throughout the
web and can't find the answer to how to get the template instead of the code.
Please help

I use FP 2003 so it may be different. Are you checking that you are viewing
your page in design view and not code view. In FP 2003 at the bottom left
corner of the page there are three tabs for design / split and code views.

IIRC, 2000 only has Design/Code/Preview views, no Split.
