Temp folder

Carlos Jones

Hello all,

I got the TEMP folder under \Documents and Settings\MyUser\Local
Configuration\ with a lot of files that sum up to 4 GB; I need some space in
my hard disk and I am wondering if it is safe to remove the files within
that folder.

TIA for your help and time !

Carlos Jones.

You can click Start | Run, and then type "cleanmgr" (no quotes) and then
click OK. This will bring up the Disk Cleanup Tool. You can clear temp files
via this tool.

You can also access it via the Start Menu by using Accessories -
System Tools - Disk Cleanup.

You can delete the contents of TEMP,

BUT TO BE SAFE:

Don't do it until AFTER you reboot. Reboot, count to 10 (just for grins)
and then delete its contents. This is to ensure that nothing was placed
in there that was flagged for execution on the next startup, something
that some installers do. Because of this, cleanmgr will only delete
things in temp that are several days old, rather than everything in it.

So, using cleanmgr (Disk Cleanup tool) is actually the safest method.
