Tech says the problem is XP, is it?

If a user is running burning software and they're wondering why the tray
won't open while a cd is burning, thinking something is wrong with it,
enough to call tech support, then that user needs to walk away from the
computer and take some computer classes before they hurt themselves.
Yes if your actually burning a cd then of course the tray won't open, but
the op wasn't using the drive or burning cd's. That sounds like a mechanical
failure to me. Ok you're right, if your burning a cd then that software
can/does "lock" the drive from opening. But other than that it should open
when pressing the eject button. If it doesn't it's most likely a mechanical
failure.
