What operating system are you using?
First check to see if you have any Firewall software
installed such as Zonealarm. If you do it may be that your
Firewall needs to be reconfigured. Please check your
Firewall documentation for more help.

Check your Internet settings. Are you using dialup
connection? IF YES locate the key,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsoc
k2

and delete it.
Warning: BACKUP before you delete and do it at your own
risk. Then uninstall dialup connection and reboot your
machine. Reinstall dialup and problem should be solved.
Dont do this if you are not using dialup connection.

Reinstalling your Communications files can help if you
have Windows 95/98 or ME but since you are in 2k thread, i
doubt you have win 98 or ME.
This is a common problem in 95/98 and ME.
