TCP/IP Problems

Recently I installed AOL 9.0 (I know, I know...). It slowed my comp down, so
I uninstalled it. Since then I haven't been able to access the internet.
Here's the setup - I have a cable modem, attached to a Netgear MR814V2
Wireless Router. There are 2 computers hooked up to the router. My
girlfriend's computer can access the internet fine. The 2 computers can
share files and printers, but only when I manualy enter an IP address and
Gateway in my computer. My computer cannot access the internet. I've tried
entering the DNS server address and the DNS suffix, but no luck.
Help!

DNS resolution is affected by the LSP / Winsock subsystem.

If XP SP2, Start - Run - "cmd". Type "netsh winsock reset catalog" into the
command window.

Give LSP-Fix <http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm>, WinsockFix
<http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257>, or WinsockXPFix
<http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html> a shot.

If no help yet, reset TCP/IP.

Start - Run - "cmd". Type "netsh int ip reset c:\netsh.txt" into the command
window.

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Chuck: netsh winsock reset catalog did the trick. Thanks a lot, this has
been driving me crazy.

I have same problem (cannot connect to internet), but did not install AOL.
I did use Lavasoft Ad-Aware, which I have read can cause similar problems. I
tried WinsockXPFix and lspfix, nothing changed. Is there anything else I can
do?

I suggest you run ipconfig /all in a command prompt and post the results
here. How do you connect to the Internet? Broadband? By Ethernet or USB?
Have you checked the hardware status?
