I get this message on a Win XP computer that is part of a
home network. Has been working fine for 2 weeks. Get the
tcp/ip message when I initially start up. When I look at
network connections, for local area connection, it says a
network cable is unplugged but everything is plugged in.
Have reseated all cables. What to do? Thanks, Rich
.
Hey Rich. I had this problem after upgrading my mobo and
doing an XP repair install. I came across some
correspondence from a google search that suggests this
could be a problem due to virus or spyware tampering
[screws registry up or something?]. A third
party 'freeware' program was given in the correspondence,
at
www.swzone.it
named
WinsockXPfix.exe
Having come to deadend myself, I tried it [I was going
reformat anyway, out of options]. It did cure
my 'transport' problem and I'm back on the internet
again, though still haven't tampered with LAN setup [will
do that today]. I have to warn you though, while playing
a game last night, the 'blue screen of death' showed
up...not sure why, or even if it is related to
the 'freeware'. I have some OEM ramboards which could be
the problem there...I just don't know yet. But the
WinsockXPfix.exe did eliminate the 'tcp/ip network
transport not installed' problem. Use it at own risk of
course...just telling you my experience here. You might
want to do your own google with above info. Good luck.
