TCP/IP is not enabled for 1394 net adapter

I have a home network (mshome). My newest computer can access all the
others, but none of the others can access it. I ran network setup with file
and printer sharing, turned off the sp2 firewall.
My network card is connected with "sent"/"recieved" active.
The 1394 net adapter is connected with "sent"/"recieved" at zero. When I
click "status"/"support",all the fields are empty (Ip,subnet, default). When I
click "repair", all I get is "TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection.
Cannot proceed. contact the person who manages your network". Well thats me.
I tried installing the tcp/ip from the "add/remove programs" and Windows cd
but that does't seem to work.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

What you're seeing is normal when the computer's1394 (FireWire) port
isn't being used for networking. I assume that your network uses
Ethernet, not FireWire. If so, right-click, disable, and ignore the
1394 connection.

It's likely that a firewall program (Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm,
PC-cillin, eTrust, etc) is blocking Ethernet access to the new
computer.

I have norton 2005 pro (no anti-virus or firewall (that I'm aware of). I
have Avg anti-virus turned off, spybot turned off. Re-ran network wizard and
turned off window firewall and still no access. Thanks for the
information on the firewire though.

You're welcome.

AVG is an antivirus program. Spybot is a spyware removal program.
They aren't firewalls, and they can't block networked access to a
computer.

What Norton 2005 product do you have? Norton Internet Security 2005
includes a firewall program and an antivirus program, and its firewall
must be configured to allow networked access.

Running two antivirus programs can cause problems. If your Norton
2005 program includes antivirus, you can either:

1. Un-install Norton Antivirus and use only AVG, or:

2. Un-install AVG and use only Norton Antivirus.

I have Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier. Norton anti-virus was never
installed because I had Avg. I did not install go-back. Actually it would be
easier to list what I did install than what I didn't, it's
shorter.(Cleansweep,Cleanup,Ghost,WinDoctor,System Information,Explorer Shell
Extensions). There was no Internet security to install. Therefore no firewall.
Spybot has an immunize section, where it blocks ~2,000 odd threats. So I
turned it off, just in case. Hey, what can I say, I'm grasping at straws.
All I can think of is to reformat the drive in fat 32 and do a clean
install. Then see where I lose access as I re-install the programs.
