Taskbar settings not saving

I have repeatedly tried to close the language bar on my XP Pro machine. It
will close, but when I log off and back on again, the language bar appears
again. Any ideas?

again. Any ideas?

Control Panel, Regional and Languages. Languages tab, Details. Two
options from here: (1) Preferences button "Language Bar" on the Settings
tab, shut everything off that way. (2) Advanced tab, Turn off advanced
text services in all programs. You can try the second option if older
programs seem to react strangely when you're typing, and you might not
miss it at all if you don't use anything but English.
