Taskbar in foreground

Hi,

This sounds like the hokiest question in the world, but somehow, I
managed to do something so that my taskbar shows up "over" all my other
things I got open. So now, if I have I.E. open for example, I can't
see the bottom of the I.E. screen as the taskbar hides it. I've tried
everything I can think of to make it go back to the way it was with no
luck. Any suggestions?

Right click Taskbar > Properties
Uncheck "Autohide taskbar" AND Tick "Keep taskbar on top of windows"

That worked, but not like I expected. I used to be able to see the
taskbar and the bottom of I.E. at the same time. Doing what you
suggested gets rid of the taskbar altogether and I still can't see the
bottom of I.E. I don't want the taskbar to go away, I just want to be
able see it and the whole screen of whatever I'm working on.

Doing what i said does what you want..

Which options you unchecked ?

Auto-hide the taskbar is unchecked and so is Keep the taskbar on top of
other windows. However, now my taskbar is gone altogether if I'm
working in a window. I don't want that. I would like to have the
taskbar stay, but that the complete window can be seen as well. I
cannot for some reason see the bottom of a window that I'm working in.
For example, at the bottom of I.E., you usually see the little bar that
shows it's loading a page and other things (such as when you hover over
a link on a page it'll show you what the link's URL is) That's gone
and I would like to get that back as well as keep the taskbar visible.

Dont uncheck "Keep the taskbar on top". Read my first reply again :

Uncheck "Autohide taskbar" AND **Tick** "Keep taskbar on top of windows"

Maybe you're talking about the Status Bar of the IE and you are mixing it
with Taskbar. If that is so, then in IE, click View menu and make a check
mark on Status Bar.

Hope this is what you are looking for, let us know!

The problem was specific to I.E. like in the previous post. I went
into View and switched it like he mentioned and it is working now. I
was sure it was a taskbar problem, never even crossed my mind that it
was specific to I.E.

I feel like a doofus...:)

Thanks to everyone for their tips!

"Keep Task bar on top of other windows" - is that not exactly what is
happening and what you *don't* want?

If you doubleclick the application window (eg IE) in question, it will
resize/maximize so the lower edge is sitting just above the taskbar.
