Thick taskbar

Hello

My taskbar is about an inch or more thick at the bottom of my screen.

How do I reduce it, please, so that it is its normal size?

Many thanks.

Hello,

1) Right-click a blank area of the task bar and uncheck 'Lock The Taskbar'
2) Position your mouse pointer at the top edge of the taskbar and you get a
arrow pointing two opposite side
3) Click and hold the left mouse button and move your mouse down
4) Release the button when the height has reached to your desired level
5) Right-click a blank area of the task bar and check 'Lock The Taskbar'

Hello

My taskbar is about an inch or more thick at the bottom of my screen.

How do I reduce it, please, so that it is its normal size?

First of all, note that it has no "normal" size. It can be as wide as
you would like it, and some of us prefer it be two lines wide. The
single line size is the *default* size, rather than being normal.

The task bar is resizable, like a window. Put the cursor on the edge
and wiggle it slightly to make it turn into a double-headed arrow.
Then click and drag it to the size you want.

If it won't resize, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar," Then try again.

If yours is more than two lines thick (you said "an inch or more"),
the following probably doesn't apply to you, but I'm including it,
just in case:

Also note that if you have toolbars on the task bar on multiple lines,
you won't be able to reduce the task bar size to fewer than that
number of lines. Put all the toolbars on one line first.

Quoting MVP Malke: "What happens is that the end "margin" of the Quick
Launch toolbar has gotten so far over to the right that it is now down
below. Unlock the Taskbar and then "grab" the dotted line on the
bottom bar (it will be a solid line if you are using the classic
style) and drag it up to immediately to the right of the Quick Launch
icons. Now you've successfully made the Quick Launch toolbar shorter
and can "grab" the top bar of the Taskbar and "push" it down to the
regular one-tier height."

Be leery of advice from a SPAMMER. They have a different agenda than
their pretense of giving help. This one does know how to put his spam
in a signature (after a sigdash line) as evidenced by his first posts
but refuses to do so now because he is scared of newsreaders that strip
off signatures. He wants to ensure to shove his spam in your face.

Right-click on an unused space in the Windows taskbar. Unlock it. Now
drag the border to whatever size you want.

Their answers seem good and I've seen no evidence of them pushing anyone
to their web site/s. It's no more spamming than most of the other MVPs
and participants here do and which I'll bet you go back to when you've
finished your liver-quiver.
How come you aren't going after the "other" spammers here? That's
rhetorical; I know why.

Maybe, but in this case the procedure is spot on.

Only the signature was spammish, so VanguardLH's frequent reply warning
seems a bit reflex rather than thoughtful. No big deal.

You can also Task-bar right-click(menu)> Properties> Task-bar> Auto-hide=on
That thins the task-bar to ~1/16" until you touch it with the pointer or tap
the start button. This gives you even more desk-space, and lets you see more
that might be on the task-bar, but only when you want to see it.

This just goes to show that not everyone has the same idea of what spam
is. What you may consider spam, I may not. I don't think that his
signature is no more offensive that someone who puts their webpage
address into their signature. Will I ever go there? Maybe someday out
of curiosity. After all I doubt that I'll ever use his services since
Singapore is a long way from Montgomery, Alabama...

You're welcome. Glad to help.

Personally, if you have a big enough monitor, running at a high
resolution, I prefer the task bar to be two lines high. But you don't
have to have the same taste I do.
