Taskbar icons

How do you place a program icon on the task bar. I tried
to drag an icon from desktop to task bar but it does not
work.

Hi Anthony,

I area of the taskbar you're speaking of (I believe - to the right of the
Start button) is called 'Quick Launch'. You can't drag anything into it as
you've seen. You need to open it (it gets its icons from a folder on your
hard drive).

To open the Quick Launch folder, right-click next to it and pick 'Open
Folder'. This will open an Explorer window with a view of the icons in
your Quick Launch Folder. You can add or delete shortcuts there and the
changes will be reflected on your taskbar.

My experience --- with WinXP --- does not bear out what Michael described: I
can Rt.-button-drag an icon from the All Programme menu to the Quick Launch
toolbar, for example. When the desired position of the new placement is
reached (a black vertical bar, moving between the icons), the finger on the
button is released. A context menu appears. Click [Move here].

A tip: It is best to begin by creating in situ a shortcut icon (on Rt. click
menu), differentiated by the appendage (2), i.e. a duplicate, appearing by
the side of the icon one wishes to move. Should the migration go awry, the
original would not be affected. Also,one can delete it at will, it being a
shortcut.

Hey Guys!! I found out how to fix it! I'm back to normal. I somehow pulled the open programs in the taskbar to under the icons on left. I know how to fix it now. Thanks all.
