Taskbar has changed colour - why?

My taskbar has suddenly changed colour from blue to grey, does anyone know if
there is a reason for this?

Right-click Desktop, Properties, Appearance. In the color scheme, choose blue.

Are you using third-party themes, in case? A screenshot might help.

I tried Ramesh's method but initially had the problem that only the
"Windows Classic" option appeared in the drop-down menu. However, when
I downloaded and installed Service Pack 2, the option of "Windows XP"
appeared in the drop-down menu" again and choosing this made my grey
taskbar blue. Hooray!
I've no idea why this happens and I intend to leave the settings well
alone in the future.

Probably because the Themes service was not running.
