Taskbar "Ghost"

I do have better things to do with my time, but this annoyance has gone
on long enough.

My taskbar has a "ghost"--an additional "border" of blue (same shade as
Mr. Taskbar) above it.

I've left-clicked, right-clicked, sprinkled garlic and eye-of-newt on
the laptop, but I can't get rid of this-- This *thing* that looks as
if I had a duplicate taskbar beneath it.

If anyone has any idea what this graphic is, and how to get rid of it,
I'd really appreciate knowing what to do.

A border above sounds like it could be due to it being unlocked.

In which case right-click and make sure Lock the taskbar is checked.

Hey, Gentlemen, it worked! I'll do a search to find out exactly what
an unlocked/locked taskbar is, but as long as you responded, can you
tell me what the advantages are to each?

Thanks again!

One of the more common nuisances that end users ran into with older MS
operating systems is that they would somehow find their Taskbar moved
to the side or top of the screen and have difficulty in getting it back
to its default bottom location. MS responded to this in XP by giving
you the option to lock the Taskbar (and other toolbars) into place so
they can't be moved. You can extrapolate the advantages/disadvantages
from each state from that.
