Taskbar and Menu dissappeared on Desktop

Hi,
All my settings on desktop have dissappeared only the background is showing.
When I click on the taskbar and menu button in Control Panel. nothing
happens.
Any advice please

Try windows recovery disk, to see if the problem can be resolved. If that
doesn't work go to Microsoft Knowledge Base and see if they have a possible
solution.

just use system restore to go back a week or so and see if that fixes
it
if it doesnt then its more serious than you can fix
- go see a COMPUTER tech at your local store

hi about system's restore how do i get the calendar to go back,,,will only go
back one day,,,but on son pc he can go back months (can't ask him he's
away)is there some thing in the setting i need to do,,,please reply with
idiots instructions thanks
