Task Recurrence Disabled

The Recurrence and Assign Task options on my outlook menu bar are disabled.
I am unable to create a recurring task. Can anyone help?
 
Have done. No luck, thanks. I found another thread here about errors with
recurring tasks and tried that fix, but it didn't work.
 
I just encountered the same problem and found your post while looking for a solution. I ended up running Help > Detect and Repair, and that solved the problem. No idea why.
