Task Manger will not stay open...help!!!

When i try to open task manger via ctrl-alt-del or by
right clicking on the task bar and choosing it, it pops
up for a second and then immediately shuts down. The
same thing happens when i try to run msconfig or
regedit. Is this some sort of virus?? Any ideas on how
to fix this?? Thanks all!!!

It is a virus.
Can't remember off-hand the name. But somebody will post
that.

Try the STINGER anti-virus tool from NAI/McAfee , do a
Google for "stinger+nai"

This is a known behaviour in cases where the system is infected by a
virus or some other malware. Use a good virus scanner.

This symptom is caused by Viruses. It is advisable to run a full system scan. Be sure you update the anti-virus software definitions.
