I can't access task manager using ctrl-alt-delete or ctrl-shift-esc. I
tried
accessing it through Run-taskmgr-go, but when I did this I got an error
message saying: "Another program is currently using this file." Does
anyone
have any input about this? Thanks!
i had the same thing a while ago, thanks to that nasty adware Winfixer. It
won't let you into Task Manager because then you could stop the process and
then run adaware or a virus checker/killer. It wouldn't allow me any access
to the registry either. Do you remember at any point while surfing recently
having a "Your computer is in danger of viruses! Do you want to check for
viruses now?" popup come up? (and it matters not to winfixer where you
click, it'll install itself anyway - the only solution i've found to stop it
getting in is to close _all_ browser windows down immediately, and not
clicking anywhere in the box.)
It took me a long time and a lot of bother to get rid of it, and to get full
access back.. So much so i can't even remember the long and convoluted
process of actually fixing it, but i did manage it in the end. i think it
involved running AdAware and several other progs in safe mode, and then
running the Vundofix.exe and Virtumundobegone.exe (google for them). Sorry i
can't be more specific, but i hope that helps a bit at least.
