Task Bar

I wish to keep the icons on the task bar expanded, but
cannot figure out how. I tried locking the taskbar
without success. Thanks
 
If you are referring to the 'notification area' on the right side of the
taskbar, then right click the taskbar and select properties. Uncheck 'hide
inactive icons'.
