Task Bar

In Windows XP Home, my Task Bar icons are larger than before. The time in the
lower right hand corner now has the day of the week in the taskbar. Also,
when I click on Start and Programs, My list of programs Icons have increased
in size and I know have 3 columns instead of two. The icons now show window
icons instead of the program icons that it did before. Can anyone help?

Right click the taskbar then click to clear the Lock Taskbar option.

Move your cursor over the edge of the taskbar until it becomes a
double-headed arrow.

Left click and drag down to the single height.

Right click the taskbar then click Lock the Taskbar.

Now it can't be moved or resized unless the Lock Taskbar option is cleared
again.

If that doesn't work and you have Quick Launch...

Try small icons in Quick Launch and see what happens.

Right click the Taskbar | Select Lock the taskbar to unlock it | Right click
an empty area of the Quick Launch area and select View | Select Small icons

*View will not appear in the menu if the Taskbar is locked.

Also try placing all the toolbars, including the Quick Launch bar, on one
line then you can probably resize the Task Bar to one line.

My guess is that your task has increased in height. Right-click the task bar
and click the "Lock the Taskbar" option to uncheck it. Move your cursor to
the top of the task bar, where it becomes a double arrow. Move the top edge
of the task bar down. Then right click the bar and select "Lock the Taskbar".

Another thing to try: Right click the taskbar, select properties; uncheck
"Show Quick Launch". Your quick launch bar and task bar may be trying to
occupy the same space.

I found the answer. Go to the display props and apply the regular windows xp
skin. See if your icons go back to normal. This worked for me.

For the Start Menu icon size.

Right click the Start button | Properties | Start Menu tab |
Customize button | General tab | Click on Small Icons
Click OK | Click Apply | Click OK
