Hi this may seem rether trivial but it's been driving me
mad for the past week.I did a full re-install of XP, all
seemed OK except for the task bar every time I activate
quick launch it jumps to double hight,if I try to drag it
down to single hight it goes off screen I have to untick
quick launch then it will allow me to reduce it.Can
anyone throw some light on this subject?
Thanks
Darryl

You have "Lock Taskbar" disabled right? There's really no set way to
get it done but you can keep fiddling and you should eventually get it the
way you want. Enable Quick Launch, shrink the taskbar, grab the Quick
Launch handle (the little vertical line beside it), and move the Quick
Launch section into view. When you have it set right, disable Lock Taskbar.

Hi Darryl,

Move the glider over toward the Start button until only three icons are
showing. The rest can be gained via the >>.

If that doesn't help:

This can happen by opening Accessibility Options, etc. If the icons on the
Quick Launch bar are showing as being larger, it will result in the taskbar
being twice its height and also include the date or similar under the clock.

If this is the case, right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/
Advanced. Under the Item drop box choose Caption Buttons and change the
number by one, ok your way out, then rest to 25.

And/or reset your default to the XP Theme.
