task bar problems

Hello every one
In the task bar there are few perforated little lines that border the Quick
launch programs from the rest of the task bar. My task bar is always in the
LOCKED position but still those little lines on their own move right or
left, either limiting the content of the task bar from view or limiting the
area for other files that are opened on the desktop.
I keep moving this little lines but this time I lost the use of the task
bar. The Quick launch is till there in full but any open folder or file
DOESN'T show up on the task bar.
I click on the task bar to obtain the 'toolbar' menu and I tried all the
list of bars offered there but can't get the task bar to show items that are
opened and on the desktop can any one help with this one?

Thanks

Do you have the problem after a logoff or a restart? Just try to
disable "Quick launch" feature and see how it goes. Do the following:

1. Right-Click on the taskbar, a shortcut menu will show up.
2. Click on "Properties" menu item.
3. "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" screen will comeup.
4. Uncheck the "Show Quick Launch" option.

I have recycled the machine few times but this is not it.
I have disabled the Quick launch folder but this is not it
I have deleted (in the ad-remove) the Google search bar but this is not it.

When I click a folder or file to minimize, the file disappear and does go
down, but disappear somewhere on the task bar, which means that the task
bar still attract items but it doesn't show them to me.

Thanks for any help

It reads to me like one of two things happened; your Quick Launch bar is
somehow separate from the Taskbar, but stationed on the bottom of the
screen, the Quick Launch bar is corrupted, or the Taskbar settings are
damaged. I would try these:

- Remove the QL bar, and then add it again.

- Try the Kelly fix for programs not minimized to the taskbar:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 240. Programs Aren't Minimized in the Taskbar

- Try these other Kelly fixes:

Line 243. Allow Changes Being Made to Taskbar

Line 164. Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality

Line 298. Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! (Purchase)

Many Many thanks to ELMO.
The line 164, "restore task bar to default" fixed it in a second.

BTW: Line 298 that you mentioned it is a purchase, it is FREE.

Many thanks again

To access certain features requires you to register which has a small fee.

Dear Rock
I am willing to register and pay the small fee but I wasn't asked so I
didn't look for it.

At any rate that little patch did an excellent job that expert couldn't even
imagine what it is and I am grateful for it

Yes it's a great tool. Some of the repair functions are available as
individual downloads from Kelly's site, including the one you used. Others
are free but only come with the tool, and others can only be accessed only
by registering for it. Depends on what you need.
