task bar not working

Whenever I boot up, my Windows task bar at the bottom of
the screen does not function. I cannot use the START
button to start programs - I can only use the desktop
icons and the program windows don't appear in the task
bar below.

I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to shut down.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

1. Press the Windows key on the Keyboard. That will bring up your start
menu.

or

2 Move the mouse pointer down to the bottom of the screen, click and pull
up the menu when you see the double arrow.

That should solve your problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, neither one
of those work.

I should clarify my previous message. The task bar is
not gone/hidden. I can view it - it just isn't responding
to anything.
