Taking ages to boot up

A

Amanda Gilmour

When XP boots up it takes ages to boot up. It gets to the Welcome screen
then loads my wallpaper. It then takes about 3 mins for windows explorer to
boot up and there seems to be no hard disk activity at all?
Any ideas what could be causing this

Many Thanks

Amanda,

Check Event Viewer and see if there is any errors with any services when
booting up. (Event Viewer is under Control Panel > Administration Tools).

You might also want to visit http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
for which services is safe to disable. This will speed up your boot process.

Also try a defrag of your hard disk too.
