If I have uninstalled a program but its icon remains in
the system tray, how can I remove it?

Hi,

Did you uninstall or delete? Programs should always be uninstalled (control
panel/add & remove, not deleted).

A program loads to the system tray at boot 90% of the time because of a run
entry in the registry. This means the program still exists in the system.
Start/run msconfig and see if an entry referring to it remains on the
startup tab.

Or did you mean the quicklaunch bar? If this is the case, simply delete the
icon (right-click/delete).

Hi,

It is called the Notification Area in XP. :o)

Go to Start/Run and type in: msconfig. Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck
accordingly. Then run this script to remove the disabled items from the
registry.

Or...remove the runkeys from here: Start/Run/Regedit
