Systray Icons

Windows XP does not display all of the appropriate icons
in the systray after starting up. I am not talking about
the "Hide unused icons" feature. My volume control icon
is missing as well as Palm desktop alarm manager,
sometimes Palm HotSync and the InCD Icon. Which ones do
or don't display varies with the InCd and Palm Alarm
Manager not displaying most often. The Volume control
Icon being missing is new. I can get it back by going to
Audio settings and unchecking and re-checking the display
icon in systray box. All of the programs seem to be
loaded but the icons just don't display. Can anyone shed
any light on this?

I have sinilar on the powe options on a laptop but uncheck recheck doesn't
work now
