i use xp pro. i just installed norton 2k4 on my pc, i
didnt have any a/v protection before tonight. after it
detected and deleted 170 files, i finished the install
and rebooted like it said. when i boot back up it says i
have no C:/windows/system32/system32.exe file.
i know that norton didnt completely remove a virus and
this is the reason, but to fix it im supposed to go to
the registry and delete files from it that i cannot
find... here is what microsoft says to delete from
registry... here is the link... >>>>>

System32.exe is _not_ a valid Windows file, but rather a file name
commonly used for a component of several well-known viruses, worms,
and Trojans.

To name a few:

W32.Kwbot.C.Worm

W32.Kitro.A.Worm

when i boot up i no longer encounter the "create file....
C:\windows\system32\system32.exe".
i ran ad-aware after the norton, and it found and deleted
more files that were in conflict.
the problem i have is when i go to play online golf,
tiger woods 2004, it tells me im having a network
connection problem. i cant get online with it, but i was
able to yesterday morning.

You may be misinterpreting the article; it is not very well presented.
Where it says for example to delete
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SystemSAS
system32.exe

What you do is open to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and look in the right pane for the line SystemSAS that has the value
System32.exe
and highlight it (the SystemSAS in the name column), hit delete.
