System32 Autoexec.nt

All of a sudden, I get an error message when I boot my
computer. It says "C:}WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The
system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and
Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to
terminate the application." I can't open any of this type
program. Any suggestions?
 
Maybe a virus infected your operating system, but you fail to mention which
operating system you're using and this is a Windows XP Embedded newsgroup.
If you're not using XP Embedded, you might get better help from another
newgroup that deals with your particular operating system (for example,
maybe somebody had the same problem on the same OS that you have your
problem with).
