I am having some trouble recently. Have made no changes to anything on my system but when I boot my computer, I get a blue screen with tons of techno-stuff and something about floppy disk. So I powered down, inserted my floppy disk, rebooted and it comes up OK. I ejected/unloaded the floppy before powering down but on reboot without the floppy, it will not boot...same blue screen etc
Reboot with floppy plugged in....boots OK
Please help as I am not very technically smart and need some hel
Thank
Bobbie

It could be few different things...

What exactly is the "tons of techno-stuff and something about floppy
disk" say?

Steve

The techo-stuff is about 1/3 of a screen full of hex plus and underscored strings. I didn't copy it down as it was quite intensive. The only thing that caught my eye was a string that ended with "xxx_flpy_dsk". It was that indicator that caused me to plug in my floppy and reboot, whence it came up successfuly

I have "ejected/unplugged" the floppy as good protocol in disconnecting an off-board peripheral but problem still appears to be there.

Should I copy the entire contents of the blue screen here for your analysis

Bobbie - that's called the BSOD - the dread Blue Screen Of Death.
Most of it won't probably help much. BUT:
At or near the top you will see a line with a series of "0x000000xx"
values. The line may start with text like "STOP ERROR:".

Post just that little bit of text and the first 0x00... value, as a
reply in this thread. That's a fairly specific error message that can be
looked up. Then someone may be able to get some info for you.

And give some details about your machine. Is it a laptop? Desktop?
Built-in floppy drive? Plug-in drive (laptop) or USB (desktop)?
