System will not start not even in safe mode!

I recently got a pc from my girlfriend and the coputer will not startup or
even start up in the last config. the worked or safe mode. I not to sure
what to do from here, it does boot up and will show the list if i choose F8
when re booting. Would anyone happen to know what I could do?

If you have an XP boot disk use that.
If you have the XP installation CD boot from it.

You may have to go into the CMOS and change the boot sequence. Typically,
press the Delete key during boot up. Find the boot sequence setting and
change to use the CD Rom or Floppy drive first.
