For a long time I used to get two "connection" icons in my system tray, each
one loooke like 2 teeny PC's
Plonking the moouse arrow on one would yield a pop-out speech bubble that
said "100mbps LAN" or something like that, and the other one would say
connected at 8.1 mbps."

Well the 8.1 one has vanished and I only get the LAN connection icon -
anyone know haw to get the other one back - I had to rummage hard in the
past to find it - I'm sure there's a "Show and icon when connected to the
interenet" or something like that but, I can't find it.

TIA

regards, Richard

Click Start > Connect to > Show all connections. On the
Network Connections Window, right click on your connection > choose
properties > On the General tab > Put a check on the box (lowest part) Show
icon in the notification area when connected.

RJK,

Right-click MY NETWORK PLACE | PROPERTIES

Right-click the connection & check the box to 'Show Icon In Taskbar When
Connected'

Click OK
