I have Windows XP home editioin SP2 installed on a pc. My problem is that
there are no icons shown on system tray area.It was ok a few days
back.Sometimes when I put the system on icons are loaded at startup the next
time I would start the system no icons will be there. I want network icon to
be on the system tray but it is not showing though 'show icon in taskbar
when connected' option in lan properties is checked. Can anyone tell me what
the problem is.
Thanks

Hi there Talib,

Sounds like the Auto hide function is turned on. Check the following:

Where the system tray is, check and see if you have a << there. Click on it
and see what icons you have.

If you want to turn this function off, right click on the Task Bar, click on
Properties.
Uncheck the "Hide inactive icons" checkbox.
Click apply, then OK.

If you want to just unhide particular icons, instead of unchecking that box,
click on the Customize button, and you can set the individual taskbar icons
the way you want.

Let me know how it goes!

Best Regards,

Hi William,
I've checked, auto hide function is turned off. Even if it was turned on
there must appear a small arrow so that we can see or hide the icons by
clicking on the arrow. But there is no arrow appearing even if I turn on the
auto hide option.
