I don't know what happened in XP but all of a sudden all the programs listed
under Start>ProgramFiles>Accessories>SystemTools have disappeared - all
except the Character Map function. I have found the files lurking in the
System folder etc. My question is - how can I bring back the shortcuts
listed in System Tools for these :

Backup - %SystemRoot%\system32\ntbackup.exe
Disk Cleanup - %SystemRoot%\System32\cleanmgr.exe
Disk Defragmenter - %SystemRoot%\System32\dfrg.msc
Files & settings Transfer - %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\usmt\migwiz.exe
System Info - "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\MicrosoftShared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe"
System restore - %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

I can't find System Tools when in Explore and I don't know what to do. Any
help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

For each tool, right click it, hold down the right mouse button, and drag
and drop them in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools. Select the option to create a
shortcut here when the pop up menu appears.

.This is a new one on me,You say that you found the

files in the system folder any chance of doing a system
restore from their?

Try this - right click the start button and click on
Properties. Then click on the Start Menu tab. Pick
Classic Start menu, and then click the Customize button.
Then click the Add button to begin adding items to your
start menu. You said that you located the programs in
the computer. Simply browse for the system tools that
you want to put back on the menu, and you can place
exactly where they were before, in the System Tools
section of the Accessories folder. That should do the
trick.
