NAV 5-1-04 update upset...

In case anyone is interested, I've been having a dig around to try and pin
down any changes in my system, after tweaking to try and compensate for that
alleged Norton problem. The tail end of my boot logs show that my boot
sequence has changed. And all I did during this afternoon was to switch on,
then a little later - switch off Services | Messenger. Uncheck the MS
Office plug-in like someone in here advised. reboot a few times. I did
mess around with
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-MU.html#symevnt
but, I don't think that did any good at all, and I think I've ended up with
a dll or two that I don't really need !

Below are the "tail end" of two boot logs 31-12-2003 and 08-01-2004

Anyway...

Take a look at this article Symantec just posted on its website concerning
the recent Norton Anti-Virus problem:

Thanx for that. I'm afraid to clear that check box ! ...now that all seems
okay. Perhaps that's just due to Verisign getting the load off their
servers. Having said that I've been using Word and Excel on and off all day
and haven't had a problem, and...touch wood..all seems okay.

I was having same problem with Norton Internet Security 2004.
Everytime had blue screen and error SAVRT.SYS so I finally fixed by
changing one of my memory slots.
I tested with mem86 but did not find any memory leaks but even so, I
decided to change memory.
I had recently addedd added some and I guess one of the slots was
damaged.
I changed a 256 for 128. Now instead of having 640 I am running with
512 but at least doesnt give me the blue screen. I guess my
motherboard is kind of old for win xp. I bought this computer under
win 98...
I guess you can try to change one of your memory slots even if no
programm tells you have a bad memory.
