system startup

I'm having trouble getting adaware , or spybot to run at system start-up. I
am using a program called start-up control panel by mike lin.
In it, i can set programs to "run once" before any other programs start but
it doesn't seem to be working. Is there a way of doing this manually ?
please help.

I would suggest doing a search on Google for the manufacturers site and
their help files, troubleshooting files, etc. I don't think this is an XP
issue, although it may be.
I think Ad-Aware and Spybot can both be sent to run at startup without the
aid of an additional third party program.

Both SpyBot Search and Destroy 1.3 and Ad-Aware Professional 1.05 have that
option built into each respective program.

It's amazing what you will find if you dig around in a programs options!

Even if the program doesn't itself have the option, for *any*
program, it's very easy to have it run automatically at startup
without a third-party program. Just put a shortcut to it in the
folder

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

I'm not familiar with the program Phil mentioned, but his problem
using it is probably that he's trying to set it to "run once"
instead of to "run."
