System Startup items

John

Hi Group,
After formatting my hard drive and reinstalling all my programs none of the
System Startup items come up near the clock.
All the items are checked in the SCU startup.. Where did they go?
With thanks Aussie John

The area near the clock is called the System Tray. It is used
by various services and programs that are launched automatically,
e.g. your virus scanner, network monitor, volume control,
sound card indicator. Most of them go there automatically
when you install the drivers and applications (e.g. firewall applet,
virus scanner applet). Others are placed there when you tick
a box during the installation or configuration of the respective
software (e.g. network status indicator, laptop battery indicator).

I suspect you have not yet installed all your programs and
drivers.

It is called the Taskbar notification area.

Click on the (chevron) << looking button in the Taskbar notification area.

[[In Microsoft Windows XP, icons in the Notification area (on the right side
of the taskbar) are, by default, hidden when they are inactive. This
behavior is determined by a setting, which can be cleared or selected for
each item.]]

Hi Wes
Tried all those items you gave me with no luck.
The only thing I found a bit strange was, when I went into Task bar and
Startup Menu Properties found that
that the "Hide inactive icons" and "Customise" was blanked out with NO tick
in the square.
All programs are loaded and everything seems normal.
Everything is ticked in the Start up/ System Config.

Any more ideas or will I have to do a XP repair?

With thanks Aussie John
