System Standby

D

Using Windows XP Home.

I have selected standby to activate after 30 minutes using the Power Option
in Windows. The System goes into standby perfectly however, to bring the
system back from standby I have to press the start button (Power Option
shows "shutdown"). The system returns from standby within about 15 secs
after the machine goes through activating the screen; running the Hard Drive
for a couple of seconds. This does not seem like a re-boot. Cannot return
from Standby using a keyboard key or activating the mouse as it does on my
other machine.

I have checked the "Power Management" settings in BIOS and everything seems
to be set normal.

The MoBo is and ASUS P4P800 SE.
The Keyboard is a Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard 1.0A.

Any suggestions.

Have a look in Device Manager [start > run > devmgmt.msc] at the "Power
Management" tab for your keyboard and mouse

See if the "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" box is
checked for each device
