System slowing

Brian

Since installing the MS spyware beta I have noticed that
internet related activity (e-mail & page loading times)
seems to be becoming slower and slower each day. In
addition to the new beta I also run Secretmaker and spy
sweeper plus adaware and spybot on a weekly basis so I'm
fairly confident that my system is clean. Has anyone else
noticed this and is there a cure? Re-booting has not made
any difference.

Maybe to remove all temporarily "junk".

Step 1 and 2.

One thing I always do is to set IE´s cache to a minimum.
If you have a cable, xDSL connection or better.

Start IE, menu tools, Internet settings , Settings for
Temporarily files
Set this to 1MB. You must use your keyboard to set "1".

Plun,
Thanks for that. I do keep my settings low anyway and most
of the time I use Firefox. The big problem is more to do
with anything I do inside Outlook. Not express.

I saw you also have several antispyware, are all of them
manually ? I think its enough to let MSAS handle realtime
protection.

Inside Outlook a lot can be done.

- Move mails from incoming to specific other userdefined
mail folders.

- Delete mails, attachments.

- Emty deleted items and junkmail folder.

- You have tools to clean up mailboxes, menu tools

If you using Firefox it might also be interresting to try
Thunderbird ? ;)

This could partly be attributed to real time protection running in the
background. Also additional services that are running in the background that
are also eating up your band width. Check Task Manager > Processes and kill
any unknown processes that might do so.

I figured it was something to do with the real time thing;
I checked all the processes, nothing unusual, which made me
wonder why it was all seeming to slow down.

My other anti-spyware programs have never been a problem
and have always worked quite well together. My outlook is
sorted into folders and set to empty every time I close
down. There was not a problem with the beta originally just
seem to progressively slower each day.

Hi

Start taskmanager, CTRL-ALT-DEL

Check CPU for gcasDTServ.exe and gcasServ.exe

Check your error.log within Program files/MSAS. Size ?

My PC takes nothing in CPU and error.log has a few new events
