Too much protection?

Hi I just purchased Bit-Defender 9.0 and got a free copy of Spy
Sweeper.I like it allot but I'm not sure about Spy Sweeper. It seems to
work well using real time scanning and auto updates but also seems to
slow my system somewhat and slows the opening of other programs too.
The reviews on Google are impressive and it costs $24.95.
I'm wondering if I can uninstall any of the programs I had running
before Spy Sweeper like AdAware, SpyBot S&D, Spyware Blaster, CW
Shredder, WinPatrol, Symantic Firewall and HiJack This.
I don't think I really need all of these, but don't know which ones to
keep other than HiJack This.........Any suggestions? Thanks folks!

I have no experience with spy sweeper. The other ones are free and work
well as in combination. No one program can do it all. I would not get
rid of them, with the exception of the Symantec firewall. There are
other alternatives to that though if it working well on your system and
is not heavy on the resources, then why change things.

Hello , I use SpySweeper and am very familiar . Only program set to run full
time for anti spyware performance . I have the Ad-Aware SE Plus but never let
the AdWatch run thanks to SpySweeper . Trend Micro Anti-Spyware 3.0 comes
with CWShredder . I run that only when scanning like with Ad - Aware . Those
3 are all I use for Anti Spyware . I like the Personal Firewall... comes
with Norton Internet Security 2005 . Disable E-Mail Scan : incomming ..and..
outgoing with this Norton .

To Gerry. Just Bid Defender 9 Standard Edition...........Connected with
dial-up. As stated, system seems to reboot and run more slowly and apps
don't open as quickly..........deango

As I understand it that's the version without the Firewall.

It would seem that you do not have a hardware firewall.

You can choose to stay with the Norton Firewall or fall
back on the Microsoft Firewall.

My preference can be simply put. I have recently
dumped Norton Anti-Virus in favour of AVG 7 ( freeware )
and Norton Personal Firewall for the Windows Firewall.
If your system is struggling then a similar change would
definitely help with your performance.

Hope this helps.

Anti-virus and anti-spyware progs are to be had for free. No need to pay
for them.
