System Restore

I am unable to restore my system to a previous setting. No matter what
date I pick, I get the unable to restore please pick another date. I can
pick yesterdays date, and still no luck. Any suggestions?
Also I am afraid of losing all my data, and programs if I re-install
WindowsXP Home editions. Are my reservations Valid?

Unfortunately, when system restore doesn't work there really isn't
much you can do except turn it off and reboot. That will clear out
all previous restore points. Once rebooted, turn it on again and then
run a test later on to see if the restore point is valid.
