system restore issue

I have two pc's , a desktop and a laptop. Both are only 2 years old and run
with windows XP home. I tried to do a system restore on both . The little
calendar shows a multitude of possible restore points on each pc. After I
pick one and the system does a restart, I then get a message that restore
could not me completed for the date specified -choose another date. I did
that 2 or 33 times on each pc but continue to get the message of "unable to
restore". Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong?
Thanks,
Carl

The system restore files have been corrupted. This is often caused by
antivirus or antispyware programs finding traces of malware in the system
restore files and trying to fix them. To fix the system restore files you
need to disable system restore, reboot, enable system restore, reboot,
create a new restore point. This will erase all of the old system restore
files and create a new restore point starting now. Technically the reboot
after disabling system restore isn't needed but I recommend it.

Your screwed, your restore points are corrupt. Have to reset it by turning
it off then back on. This will fix, but will loose all restore points.
