System Restore

Everytime I attempt to run System REstore, I get the message that says the
computer was unable to restore my computer to the restore point selected.
Most of the these points have been as short as the day before. Is there some
setting I need to do to make this work properly. It has not worked since I
installed Vista.

Hello,
Do you have Norton antivirus installed? If so, disable it, then do the
restore, then reenable Norton. Go to Norton's site if you want more details.

Isn't all that's needed is to turn off "protection for my symantec
product" on the general settings screen of security and firewall
options, from within NIS2007? Then do the restore, and go back in to
the setting and re-enable it.

bbrads1947,

You cannot do a System Restore to an earlier time if no changes have been
made to the system.

Have a nice day.

How do I disable Norton. I do not see any options that allow disabling the
program. I went to the security settings in control panel but could not find
a turn off button.

Hi,

What is the exact error message that you're getting? Also, at which step
during System Restore are you getting this error?

Thanks,
Christine

I have the same problem as the one described below. It happened all of a
sudden after the System Restore had been working well for a number of years.

I have Windows XP, SP2.

The problem started, soon after I installed and then uninstalled System
Works from Norton. At about the same time, I installed IE7.

The problem is as follows. When I start System restore, there are restore
points, either automatic or created by me. When I click to go back to one of
these restore points, even very recent, the system starts up, the computer
turns off and starts again but instead of restoring, I get a message saying
"Your computer could not be restored to this restore point".

I assume that the System Restore files have been damaged but I do not know
how to repair it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to restore my computer to a point in the last month because my
computer keeps telling me there is a problem with my audio configuration and
won't play itunes, media player or any dvds. I tried to click back on the
month from October to September but nothing happens and the earliest restore
point I can get is on the day when my audio stopped working. Anyone know what
I can do?

I am using Nortom Antiirus 2007. Your suggestion worked the computer did
restore to the date I wanted. However, I could not turn protection back on
always showed "red Error" After numerous attempts I had to reinstall the
Anti Virus program. Any suggestion what may have caused this?
