Question:

When I try to click on system restore in the control
panel I get a message:

RUNDLL - An exception occurred while trying
to "shell32dll,control_runDLL"C:\windows\system32sysdm.cpl
",System"

No idea what this means but worry it may mean I can't set
a system restore point. Any Ideas?

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and then
re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then re-boot, turn it
back on.
And try this if the above does not work.

1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf

You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then Install)
